ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Kitchen Manager to oversee daily food production and lead our kitchen team. This is a hands-on management position responsible for maintaining food quality, consistency, inventory, sanitation, and efficient kitchen operations.
The Kitchen Manager works closely with store leadership and other departments to meet production needs, control costs, and ensure employees follow established recipes, food safety procedures, and company standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, production schedules, staffing assignments, and department cleanliness.
- Ensure prepared foods meet company standards for quality, freshness, presentation, portion control, and recipe consistency.
- Train, coach, and provide direction to kitchen employees while reinforcing performance expectations and company procedures.
- Organize daily production and cleaning schedules, assign responsibilities, and follow up to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor inventory, maintain appropriate stock levels, place orders, and complete monthly inventory counts.
- Verify incoming deliveries for quality, quantity, and accuracy and report discrepancies to management.
- Monitor food costs, waste, shrink, and product usage to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work with Meat, Seafood, and Produce departments to reduce waste and support menu planning and seasonal product development.
- Ensure products are properly labeled, priced, stored, rotated, and displayed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe kitchen, storage, cooler, freezer, and sales areas.
- Ensure employees follow food safety, sanitation, temperature-control, equipment-safety, and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor kitchen equipment, report maintenance concerns, and ensure equipment is used properly and safely.
- Communicate operational concerns, staffing needs, and production issues to store and regional management.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Two years of culinary, commercial kitchen, or food production experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of food preparation, standardized recipes, portion control, and food safety practices.
- Experience with ordering, inventory control, food costs, and production planning preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train employees, delegate responsibilities, and follow up on performance expectations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use scheduling, inventory, and other store systems.
- Valid ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, or equivalent accredited Food Protection Manager Certification, required.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on production and business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is an active, hands-on position requiring standing and walking for approximately 6–8 hours per shift, as well as frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, grasping, pushing, and pulling.
The position may require lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment when needed. Work involves commercial kitchen equipment, sharp utensils, hot surfaces, cleaning products, and refrigerated or freezer environments.
